Ushuaia, capital of Tierra del Fuego province, is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel and is surrounded by the Martial mountain range, in a bay of singular beauty protected by the winds. According to 2004 information, the city has a population of 58.898. Its name derives from the Yamana language and means “bay penetrating to the west”. The department of Ushuaia has a surface of 9390 km2 (including Staten Island and Beagle islands). The coasts of the Beagle Channel and the Martial Range are the natural setting of Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.

Ushuaia offers a unique landscape in Argentina that combines mountains, sea, glaciers, and woods. Its capricious topography has generated an extremely picturesque city that blends colours and irregularities with the silhouette of the Andes Mountain Range as background. Near the city, there are several protected natural areas such us Tierra del Fuego National Park, Playa Larga, Tierra Mayor, among others.

Ushuaia is not only a small town in the end of the world, but it is also nature and adventure in their maximum expression. It is the most southern urban centre on earth, source of inspiration and challenge, of myths and legends which are still alive even for those who have never trodden on these lands or sailed the seas south of the South End.
